These beads are lovingly handmade by women in a small rural village in Uganda. Each bead is made by cutting and rolling coloured scrap paper which is then lacquered to ensure durability. All The Way Home 'The South Sudanese community is one of many refugee communities that were forced to leave their homeland because of civil war, coming to Australia for safety and to build a new life. In a sense we are straddling two cultures and that is a wonderful thing. I hope this book helps people to understand, that whilst we were living through hard times, it was our beliefs, our culture and our faith that kept us going. When we were running for our lives, when we were foraging for food, when we had nothing but the clothes on our back, we still had our culture and no-one could take that away from us. The stories in this book were collected from children living in the Latrobe Valley area. These stories are real, as seen through the eyes of the children. They are the thoughts, feelings, experiences; the stories, of the South Sudanese refugee children, living in Australia. These are the images that visit when they close their eyes in the night. These are the stories the world needs to hear. We thank Kids Own Publishing for seeing the value in the stories and for volunteering their time to bring this book to fruition. Renowned author Arnold Zable has endorsed the book by writing a heartfelt blurb for the cover & all proceeds from the sale of the book go directly to Bor Orphanage & Community Education Project Inc. to assist in the construction of an orphanage/school for recovering victims of war in Bor, South Sudan.

The Bor Orphanage & Community Education Project Inc. is a made up of a group of people from the Latrobe Valley, in conjunction with some Sudanese Australian friends, with the aim to build an orphanage/school for traumatised child victims of war in Bor, Sth. Sudan. The construction will house the orphan children but will also educate the impoverished children in the village & surrounds. We are inviting you to be a part of this wonderful project by leaving a lasting impression on the BOCEP School. 'Buy a Brick' to enable these children to go to school just like our own children. Individuals, families, businesses, schools and church groups can all participate. Additionally, for such a generous donation, the names of individuals or groups who choose "Buy a Brick - Premium" will be engraved on a plaque, a durable and lasting reminder of your contribution, to be displayed at the entrance to the orphanage/school and a photo, together with your message to the children, should you wish, will be displayed in a book for the children and visitors to view.
